I chose the name Winter Fox for my doula services for a few reasons. Foxes mate in the wintertime and the males will usually help by bringing food to the den while the female rests and cares for the babies. According to the National Park Service, “Sometimes a sister or daughter will also help raise the pups.” A fox doula?! Incredible. What a lovely portrait of a support system. It also just happens to be my children’s names!

Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here!

Meet the doula

Hi all, I’m Amanda! I’m a mom of two who loves slow reflective time in nature, doing arts and crafts, singing with my babies, and spontaneous dance parties.

After a traumatic hospital birth experience full of interventions I didn’t want, I decided to do things differently the second time around. I opted for a home birth and it was truly transformative. I felt redemption, I felt peace, I felt more intuitive than ever. I couldn’t help but feel like all birthing experiences should feel this good emotionally and I knew I wanted to help other parents achieve the birth of their dreams, whatever that may look like for them!

Over the past few years as a doula I’ve supported parents through all types of births; hospital births including inductions and c-sections as well as home births including free births. I am personally more natural-minded but the most important thing to me is my clients’ autonomy and ability to have the birth experience they desire. I also support parents in their postpartum journey, whether this is their first baby or they are growing their family even more. I received my education from one of the most in-depth and inclusive doula programs available. I started my career doing work through a statewide grant which provided doula services to lower income families at no cost to them and continue to make my services as accessible as possible. I am always happy to offer flexible pricing to families who may need it. I’m sure that’s not the best business model to have but I don’t care, I do this work from my heart. I’ve also committed to supporting teen parents pro bono.
